Cruise control retrofit

Land Rover Freelander: adding cruise control

A Freelander is the Land Rover that country families actually use every day: school, work, the dog and a horse trailer at weekends. A share of them were built lacking cruise, and the long drives make that plain.

Two generations, one name

The first Freelander and the Freelander 2 are very different cars underneath, with different engines and electronics. Owners of both use them for rural driving and light towing. Say which one sits on your drive, because it decides everything about the job.

Country roads and long runs

Rural owners often cover more miles than town drivers, much of it on quick roads between villages and market towns. Holding a constant speed for an hour by foot is tiring, and towing makes it worse. That is when the lack of cruise stops being a minor gripe.

Our Freelander module

We prepare each Freelander unit at the Chorley works; the 4x4's own network supplies its speed, and the accelerator stays standard. Note the Freelander's year, engine and gearbox type. Before deciding, our cruise control retrofit guide sets out the general approach.

Questions about the Land Rover Freelander

Does the Freelander 2 TD4 need anything special?
Name the engine and year. Those details decide which program your Freelander gets.
Is the Discovery Sport covered too?
It replaced the Freelander but is a different model, so it is checked separately.
Can I enquire on behalf of a farm business?
Yes. Say you are trade or a business user and give the number of vehicles.
