The A1 is a premium small car, so owners are surprised to find theirs has no cruise when a friend's cheaper hatchback does. The commute is fine. It is the Friday night run up the motorway that shows the gap.
Premium badge, basic spec
Audi offered the A1 with a long options list, and plenty of first owners spent their budget on wheels and trim rather than driver aids. That made sense in the showroom. It makes less sense three years later, when the car is doing a long weekly drive.
Confusing advice online
Owners who look into adding the feature later find forum threads full of stalks, coding and part numbers that may or may not apply to their car. Most give up, and an A1 they otherwise like keeps tiring them out on long trips.
Our way in
We supply one CAN KONTROL CRUISE module, written for the A1 in Chorley. It reads the little Audi's speed off its own network and holds a set pace, picks it up again or drops it at your command, with the pedal left alone. For an A1 still under Audi's warranty, an inductive clamp that leaves the loom uncut may be possible.
