Cruise control retrofit

Adding cruise control to a Honda Accord

Accords tend to belong to high-mileage drivers who keep a car once it is run in. Honda withdrew the model from British showrooms years back, so the saloon on your drive is the one you plan to keep, and if Honda built yours without a speed hold, that gap will not close by itself.

An executive saloon still earning its keep

Plenty of Accords are on their third or fourth keeper and still run up and down the M1 for work. The car rides beautifully at a constant motorway pace, which is exactly why a driver without the button feels short-changed on every long run. Any addition has to suit a car expected to last another decade.

What the missing button costs on a long run

Without a set speed, a long trip means one foot locked in place, creeping over the limit on descents and dropping back on climbs. Do that daily and the drive home feels longer than the mileage. Average speed cameras through roadworks make it worse.

How the Accord gets it

Our Chorley factory programmes a CAN KONTROL CRUISE module for the Accord, which then listens to the speed figures the saloon already puts out on its bus. No part of the pedal or the bonnet area is touched. Say if yours is petrol or the i-DTEC diesel, and which gearbox, and an engineer plans how you will set and drop the cruise.

Questions about the Honda Accord

My Accord is well out of warranty. Does the wiring method still matter?
It matters for a tidy job. Alongside a conventional connection, Accord owners can choose an inductive hookup, leaving every wire intact, and our engineer recommends whichever suits that car.
Is the Accord Tourer estate included?
Our record lists the Accord as a saloon. If yours is the Tourer, say so and that body is checked first.
I might sell the Accord next year. Is the money wasted?
No. The module can carry a fresh program into whatever replaces the Accord, free, so it need not leave with the Honda.
