Cruise control retrofit

Mercedes Sprinter: retrofit cruise control

Sprinters do the long-distance work: overnight multi-drop, motorhome conversions heading to Spain, minibuses on airport transfers. When a Sprinter has no cruise, all of those drivers hold the pedal for hours, and in a high-sided van in a crosswind that takes concentration.

Panel van, minibus, camper

Few vehicles get turned into so many things. The same Sprinter base might become a courier van, a school minibus, an ambulance or a luxury camper. Each conversion keeps the base vehicle's electronics, and the converter's customer still expects cruise on long runs.

Who carries the risk

A converter who adds cruise as an extra owns the result when it misbehaves. On a fleet, one van that loses its speed hold mid-run turns into driver complaints and a vehicle off the road while someone investigates. Getting the first fit right on every van matters more than getting parts quickly.

Built and configured for the Sprinter

Sprinter units leave Chorley already configured, and each one picks up the van's own speed traffic from its CAN bus without any actuator. Voltage is chosen at setup, 12V or 24V, which suits workshops that also look after heavier vehicles. Configuration updates cost nothing, so a unit can follow the operator from one van to the next. Our Transit retrofit covers the other big van on most fleets.

Questions about the Mercedes Sprinter

We convert Sprinters into motorhomes. Can we offer this as an option?
Yes. Tell us roughly how many conversions you build and which base vehicles you use, and we will set up trade supply.
Is a chassis cab handled differently from a panel van?
Name the body type, how old the base is and the engine fitted, then settings are confirmed for that exact Sprinter.
Is the 24V setting meant for the Sprinter?
Sprinters are 12V. The 24V setting is there for heavier vehicles in the same fleet, so voltage gets picked per unit during configuration.
