Keeping an Audi A6 running with the key out
A chauffeured A6 outside a hotel, or a plain saloon parked up on a long observation job, has the same problem. The engine needs to run so the cabin stays comfortable and the recording kit stays live, but the driver cannot sit behind the wheel every minute.
Executive work is mostly waiting
Chauffeur and executive hire drivers spend more of the day parked than moving. Clients expect to step into a warm A6 in January and a cool one in July. Saloons doing discreet camera work need the same thing for a different reason: whatever is in the boot must not lose power halfway through a shift.
Ten minutes away from the car is enough
A driver who nips into reception to collect a passenger has a choice to make. Kill the engine, and the cabin cools, the phone chargers stop and any recorder shuts down. Keep it purring at the kerb, doors unlocked, and the A6 is there for the taking until they return.
How the A6 holds its engine on
Our runlock module holds the saloon's engine on after its key has gone indoors with the chauffeur. Anyone who settles into the seat and presses the brake or throttle, eases off the parking brake or opens the door beside the steering wheel without the conditions being met brings the car straight out of runlock. Each module is programmed for the particular A6 it will live in, at our Chorley factory.

- Each module is matched to its own car, so list the registration and age of every saloon and our engineer works through them one by one.
- When we replace an A6, can the module move across?
- Yes, it is reprogrammable. Pass us the replacement car's details and its new configuration is free.
- Will our drivers need training?
- Very little. The safeguards respond to ordinary actions like using the pedals, and the engineer explains the rest.
