Mercedes Sprinter engine runlock
The current Sprinter, the 907 and 910 generation from 2019, carries ambulance saloons, police cells, fridge bodies and parcel shelving. At a scene or a drop, nobody is sitting up front, yet the van still has to keep its heater, lights or chiller working.
Saloons, cells and fridge bodies
An ambulance crew at a roadside needs the saloon warm for the patient about to be loaded. A police van at an incident needs lights and radios live. A chiller Sprinter doing multiple shop deliveries needs its fridge holding temperature while the driver wheels a cage up a ramp.
What crews do without it
Without runlock the usual habit is to leave everything switched on and the cab empty with its doors open. The alternative is shutting down and watching the battery or the temperature fall. On a busy shift, neither feels like a real choice.
Our Sprinter setup
CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK reads the Sprinter's CAN bus, and holds that engine on even though the crew has taken the key, while the van stays lockable. We set it up in Chorley for the 907 or 910 and whatever that van powers, and it sits alongside our emergency vehicle power products for converters building blue light vans.

Questions about the Mercedes Sprinter
- We still run some older Sprinters. Are they covered?
- Our Sprinter listing is the 907 and 910 from 2019. For earlier vans, send the year and an engineer advises before you order.
- Does the saloon heating stay on with the cab locked?
- If that heater depends on the engine running, yes, because it keeps running. Tell us how your saloon is heated and fed.
- What stops runlock when the crew gets back?
- Any of three things outside the agreed limits: the driving door opening, a pedal being pressed, or the handbrake coming down. Each puts the Sprinter back to normal.
