Vito runlock: engine on, cab locked
Vitos tend to carry expensive electronics: CCTV recorders, surveillance gear, test equipment, laptop racks. When the job means parking for hours, that kit needs power, and leaving the van open with its engine ticking is asking for trouble.
Long hours parked in one spot
Surveillance and CCTV vans spend most of a shift stationary. Service engineers park a Vito outside a site and work indoors for half a day with chargers and a heater left on. The van becomes a power supply on wheels as much as transport.
Draining a battery you rely on
Recorders and monitors draw steadily. Over a long watch with nothing turning under the bonnet, the battery sinks until the Vito will barely crank, usually as the shift ends and everybody wants home. Crew changeovers make it worse, because nobody knows how long it has sat switched off.
A runlock built for the Vito
CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK lets a Vito's engine carry on once the driver has taken the key, with every door locked. It gets its signals off the CAN bus and is configured for your particular van before dispatch. Want steady motorway speed too? See the Mercedes Vito cruise control retrofit.

Questions about the Mercedes Vito
- Can the next crew take over without stopping the engine?
- They can unlock and climb in, though opening the driving door beyond the agreed limits ends runlock. Our engineer can talk through conditions that suit your changeovers.
- Does our Vito body or wheelbase matter?
- Give us year, specification and what the van powers. Those are what its configuration rests on.
- Is the Vito unit made by Mercedes?
- No. It is our own module, built by Scorpion Automotive in Chorley, Lancashire.
