Engine runlock

Keeping a Toyota Proace running with the key out

A Proace on a chilled delivery round makes stop after stop through the day. At each one the driver jumps out, opens the back and walks to a door, and the fridge unit needs the engine to keep the load cold. On a hot afternoon, switching off at each drop is not really an option.

Summer and the chiller

Small refrigerated conversions on mid-size vans often rely on the engine to drive or power the cooling. When the van sits silent at a doorstep in July, the temperature in the box starts to climb. Chilled food, cut flowers and pharmacy parcels all suffer for it.

Every drop, the same choice

The driver can switch off and lose cooling, or leave both key and engine in place while carrying a crate up a path. The second habit is common, and it leaves a van unattended, engine on, back doors open. Most operators would rather their drivers never faced that choice.

Proace runlock, set up before it arrives

We list the Proace from 2017 onwards. CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK keeps a Proace engine turning once its key is out, and the doors can be locked at the kerbside. If the driver's foot goes on a pedal, the handbrake is let down or the driver's door swings open when the conditions say it should not, the Proace goes back to behaving normally. Converters can fit it while the fridge conversion goes in.

Questions about the Toyota Proace

Some of our Proace vans are older than 2017. Can they have it?
Our listing starts at 2017. With an older van's registration in hand, an engineer can look into it before anything is promised.
Does the fridge unit need changing?
Runlock deals with keeping the engine on. Tell us how the fridge is powered so the configuration fits the way your vans work.
Can a driver lock up and still have the engine running?
Yes, it can be locked and left running. How that is done on your Proace is something our engineer settles when you enquire.
