Toyota Hilux runlock for winches and inverters
A Hilux working a farm, a utility contract or a recovery job is usually carrying something that needs feeding: an inverter for power tools, a compressor, a winch, split charging for a second battery. All of it works best with the engine running. The driver, meanwhile, is twenty metres away up a bank or across a field.
What hangs off a working Hilux
Canopies and load bed boxes hide a lot of electrical kit. Beacons, work lights, a fridge, a charger topping up an auxiliary battery, and power for hand tools on site. Run that from a parked truck with a silent engine and the starting battery soon struggles.
Walking away from a truck with the key in
Farmers and contractors have long left pickups ticking over, key still in, so the compressor keeps going. Out of sight behind a hedge, that truck is unlocked, running and loaded with tools. Switching off just brings the battery worry back.
How runlock works on the Hilux
CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK lets you leave with the Hilux key while the truck stays running, and lock it if you like. The Hilux's CAN bus feeds it ignition, speed, handbrake, pedal and door information. Climb aboard, let the handbrake off or touch a pedal and the truck is straight back to normal driving. If your fleet mixes pickups, see runlock for the Amarok as well.

Questions about the Toyota Hilux
- Our Hilux trucks span several model years. Does that matter?
- Send each truck's year and version. An engineer confirms them and sets every unit up for its truck before it ships.
- Does the unit power the winch itself?
- No, it supplies no power of its own. Its job is to hold the engine running, so the truck's charging system carries on feeding whatever is wired in.
- If we sell a truck, can the unit come out?
- Yes. Another Hilux, or any other vehicle on your fleet, can take it once it has been set up again, free of charge.
