Volkswagen Amarok runlock system
Set up for a Volkswagen Amarok, the CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK lets the engine idle with the key out for utility, recovery and off-grid work where the truck powers equipment away from the cab. It reads the Volkswagen bus for ignition, handbrake and door state and shuts the runlock down cleanly when the driver takes over. The unit is configured to the vehicle at installation.
- The unit reads ignition, road speed, handbrake, pedal and door state from the vehicle CAN bus.
- With the interlock conditions met, it holds the engine running after the key is removed.
- Opening the driver door, pressing a pedal or releasing the handbrake outside the set conditions returns the vehicle to normal and shuts the runlock state down.
- It is configured to the vehicle and application, and can be moved to another vehicle if the fleet changes.

Why fit runlock system to a Volkswagen Amarok
On a working Volkswagen Amarok the engine is the generator: it charges the second battery, runs the tools and keeps the lights on. Runlock means it can do that with the key out and the cab secure, rather than left open on trust. The CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK holds it on through handbrake, pedal and door interlocks and returns control the moment the truck is needed.
Pickups earn their keep on sites and in the field, running winches, inverters and lighting and charging auxiliary batteries, often with nobody in the cab. Runlock keeps the Volkswagen Amarok idling to feed that load while the doors are locked, then drops out the second a pedal or the handbrake is touched. Read off the CAN bus, it leaves the factory wiring intact.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK fit a Volkswagen Amarok?
- Yes. The CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK is a CAN based runlock system configured for the Volkswagen Amarok. Tell us the vehicle and we confirm the configuration for the job.
- Can a Volkswagen Amarok run a winch or charge auxiliary batteries with the key removed?
- Yes. Runlock holds the engine on with the key out and the doors locked, so the alternator keeps feeding a winch, inverter or second battery while the truck is left on a job. Touch a pedal or the handbrake, or open the driver door, and it returns to normal.
- Can the runlock system be moved to another vehicle?
- Yes. The unit is programmable and can be reconfigured and moved to another vehicle if the fleet changes. Configuration updates are free, handled by us as the manufacturer.
- Is it safe to leave the engine running with the key out?
- The runlock only holds the engine running while the handbrake is set and the interlock conditions are met. Opening the driver door, pressing a pedal or releasing the handbrake outside those conditions shuts the runlock state down.
- Who makes and supports the CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK?
- It is designed, built and supported in the UK by Intellitec, part of Scorpion Group, on the configurable i2CAN platform.
