Volkswagen Amarok runlock system
Amaroks on utility and roadside work end up parked on verges and in substations for long spells, beacons on and work lights pointed at the job. The crew are off the truck, often some distance away. The truck's electrics are carrying a lot while nobody is in it.
Lights, beacons and a second battery
Many working Amaroks carry a split charge system for an auxiliary battery that runs a fridge, tools or lighting. With the engine stopped, that charging stops too. A long night job can leave both batteries tired by morning.
The truck is out of sight
Crews working down an embankment or behind a fence cannot watch the vehicle. A running Amarok with its key in the ignition is a valuable thing to leave on a lay-by. The alternative, engine off, leaves the beacons fading as the night wears on.
Runlock on the Amarok
CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK is configured for the Amarok before it leaves Chorley. It lets the Amarok keep running after the crew have taken its key, and the truck can be locked up on the verge. Its view of the truck comes from the CAN bus, so if someone presses a pedal or releases the handbrake against the configuration, the Amarok goes back to normal.

Questions about the Volkswagen Amarok
- We fit our own beacons and lighting. Does runlock change any of that?
- No. It holds the motor running so your existing wiring stays fed. Describe the lighting you run and the setup is matched to it.
- Can we have cruise control as well?
- Yes, the Amarok is also on our cruise control retrofit list, so both can be discussed in one enquiry.
- Do we pay to reconfigure if the truck changes role?
- No. Updates to the configuration are free, whether the Amarok takes on a different role or the unit moves to another truck.
