Applications

Amber Light & Utility

Switching, control and welfare power for highways, utility and recovery vehicles working away from base.

The scenario

A utility company operates mobile workshops and highways-maintenance vehicles that run beacons and work lights, power tools and test equipment, and welfare loads for crews on site all day. The electrical system has to drive a lot of switched circuits, keep welfare equipment powered without stranding the vehicle, and be quick to build and maintain across a fleet.

The solution

  • iConnex is the core switching and control system for this sector. Beacons, work lights, floods, arrow boards and ancillaries are driven from programmable CAN modules, controlled from keypads or the OLED switch panel. It is designed for exactly these amber-light, utility-fleet and mobile-workshop builds.
  • Switch panels and keypads give operators a clear, labelled interface for each function.
  • Battery Guards protect the start battery so welfare and tool loads never leave the vehicle unable to start.
  • A DC-DC converter keeps an auxiliary battery charged for the welfare and equipment side.

Configuration is done in software, so the same platform covers recovery, utility, highways and plant vehicles with build-specific behaviour.
