The scenario
A workboat carries engine-start batteries alongside a separate house bank for navigation, lighting, pumps and electronics. In a marine environment the electrical system has to cope with vibration, damp and salt, keep the house loads running through the day, and always leave enough power to start the engines.
The solution
- Battery Guards protect the engine-start batteries from deep discharge, disconnecting non-essential loads before starting capability is lost. This is the same core protection as the Battery Guard, Intellitec’s original product.
- DC-DC converters charge and maintain the house bank correctly from the engine charging system, keeping the two banks properly separated.
- Battery chargers maintain the banks on shore power between trips.
Sealed, rugged hardware and low quiescent current suit the marine and off-grid duty, with 12V and 24V options across the range.
