Great Wall Steed cruise control retrofit
The Steed was sold in Britain as an affordable double-cab pickup, and it went to farmers, builders and small businesses who needed a load bed and four-wheel drive without paying a premium. Plenty are still working, and some would be easier to drive with a speed hold.
An honest workhorse
Budget pickups are bought to work, and the Steed does: feed runs, materials to site, a trailer hitched up at weekends. Many of those journeys are on long, straight A-roads. Cruise would make those runs less wearing.
Few specialists know the Steed
Because the brand was a small player here, workshop knowledge is thin and parts listings are patchy. A pickup like that is where a guessed retrofit goes wrong. Owners deserve a part that was set up with their pickup in mind.
How we handle a Steed
With the Steed's age, engine and controls checked, CAN KONTROL CRUISE is configured on our Chorley production line. It works from the pickup's CAN data, and nothing attaches to the throttle. If the farm also runs a Ranger, there is a Ranger page too.

Questions about the Great Wall Steed
- Should I mention whether it is four-wheel drive?
- Yes. Note the drivetrain beside the year and the engine size, so the setup matches.
- We bought ours second-hand and know little of its history. Can you still help?
- Yes. Whatever the V5C logbook shows is normally enough for us to begin.
- Can it be moved to our next pickup?
- It can be reprogrammed, and changing its configuration is free if we cover the next vehicle.
