Cruise control retrofit

Hyundai i800 cruise control: adding it to the H-1

The i800 is the eight-seat people carrier version of the H-1, and it earns its keep on airport transfers, school contracts and big family trips. Load it up for Manchester Airport and back and the driver soon wishes it would hold its own speed.

Eight passengers and their luggage

Operators choose the i800 because one vehicle moves a whole group with their bags. Those journeys are long, often at night, and driven to a timetable. A set speed lets the driver keep their eyes on traffic instead of the speedometer.

Fatigue on the third airport run

A driver on the third airport run of a shift has used their right leg all day. Tiredness shows as drifting speed and slower reactions, which is not what passengers are paying for. For an owner-driver, it is also why the work feels harder every year.

Supplied for the i800

Our i800 module gets the H-1's speed from its CAN messages, so no actuator goes anywhere near the pedals. Operators with several can get them all prepared together, and when an i800 is retired its module moves across with a fresh program, which we supply free. Every i800 unit comes off Scorpion Automotive's Chorley line.

Questions about the Hyundai H-1 i-800

Is the H-1 panel van the same job?
The i800 people carrier is the record we hold here. If you run H-1 vans as well, list them and each is checked.
We run a mixed private hire fleet. Can you look at the rest?
Send the makes and models together. Many common private hire vehicles appear in the coverage data, and an engineer goes through each one with you.
Can the driver switch it off?
It sits idle until the driver picks a speed, and cancelling returns control at once. Where the switch sits is settled with our engineer for the i800.
