Cruise control for a Mazda CX-3
The CX-3 sits on the same underpinnings as the Mazda 2, raised up and dressed as a crossover. It appeals to anyone wanting a higher seat in a small car, often couples who take weekend trips, and some of those CX-3s left the factory without speed control.
Higher seat, same long weekends
A CX-3 might do the shopping all week, then head to the coast or up to the Lakes on Saturday. That is the drive where an aching ankle and a creeping speedo become annoying. With cruise on, the driver can settle in and keep an eye on the traffic.
Not quite a Mazda 2 in a taller body
Sharing a platform does not make two cars electrically identical. A part set up for the hatchback may not suit the crossover, leaving the owner with a feature that only half works. Each model has to be configured for what it is.
Ours, for the CX-3
CAN KONTROL CRUISE lets a CX-3 driver set a speed, then hold, resume or cancel it, using the crossover's CAN data and leaving throttle and pedal alone. Configuration happens in Scorpion Automotive's Lancashire factory. While the CX-3 is still inside Mazda's warranty period, the inductive connection, which needs no cut wires, may suit it.
