Cruise control retrofit

Adding cruise control to a Vauxhall Adam

Most Adams were chosen on looks and a parking-friendly size, then life moved on: a fresh job in the next county, a partner two hours away, a weekly run up the motorway. Holding a steady 70 in a small, light car is tiring, and plenty of Adams were delivered with no means of handing that chore to the car.

A personalised car with one box left unticked

Adam buyers tended to spec their cars with real care, picking roof colours, wheels and interior finishes. So an absent speed hold grates all the more. Selling a car you chose so carefully, just to gain one feature, feels like the wrong answer.

Short wheelbase, long day

A compact city car is busy at motorway pace. Your right foot makes small corrections all the way, and speed drifts up on the downhill stretches where average speed cameras like to sit. After a couple of hours you climb out feeling far more drained than the mileage suggests.

How the Adam gets its speed hold

CAN KONTROL CRUISE listens to the speed messages the Adam already sends around its own wiring. No cable tugs at the throttle and no bracket goes anywhere near the footwell. Once your Adam has been identified, its unit gets programmed at Chorley by Scorpion Automotive's electronics team.

Questions about the Vauxhall Adam

Is an Adam too small a car to be worth it?
Size has nothing to do with it; the miles do. If yours spends time on fast roads every week, a held speed makes those trips noticeably calmer.
Mine is a manual. Do I need to mention that?
Yes, please. The gearbox goes into the setup alongside the engine and registration year of your particular Adam.
Am I stuck with it if I change cars?
No. It is reprogrammable, a fresh configuration is free, and it can usually follow you into whatever you drive next.
