Runlock for the Citroen Relay
The Relay is a big blank box that converters turn into ambulances, welfare units, workshops on wheels and tail lift delivery vans. Nearly every one of those builds has something that needs the engine turning over while the van is parked and the driver is busy elsewhere.
Built up into something else entirely
Once a Relay has been converted, the body is full of heaters, lighting, pumps or hydraulics. A welfare unit needs warmth for a crew on a cold site. A tail lift wants the engine helping it cycle through a long unload. Our coverage for this large van runs from 2014.
Left to the driver, it goes wrong
Without a proper way to keep the engine on, people improvise. Some walk off and leave the ignition live, some let the leisure battery run flat and need a jump in the morning.
Fitted while the conversion is built
Converters can put our runlock module in while the Relay is still on the build line, set up for the job it is being built for. The engine stays running after the driver withdraws the key, and the body can be secured. Should anyone press down on a pedal, let the handbrake go or pull the driving door open when its programming says no, the Relay goes back to how it was. Scorpion builds each unit in Chorley, and if the van's role changes, so can the configuration.
