Engine runlock

Fiat Ducato runlock system

Plenty of ambulances and patient transport vehicles on UK roads began life as a Ducato. At a scene the crew are out of the cab within seconds, and the saloon behind them still needs heat, light and power for the equipment.

The ambulance at the kerb

A converted Ducato carries monitors, suction, lighting and heating in the saloon. Crews can be inside a house or at the roadside for a long time. Patients being brought back to the vehicle need it warm, and the kit needs to be charged and ready.

Nobody in the driving seat

Engine off, and the saloon loads fall on the batteries until the job is done. Engine on and keys hanging from the column, and anyone at a busy scene could get into the cab. Neither should be left to chance on a vehicle doing emergency work. For the rest of the conversion's electrics, see emergency vehicle power.

Runlock for Ducato conversions

CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK keeps the Ducato running once the crew has removed the key, and the vehicle can be secured. A crew member pressing a pedal, releasing the park brake or opening the driving cab door when the programmed conditions forbid it returns the Ducato to its usual state. Coverage runs from 2014, and we programme every unit around the vehicle and its fit-out in Chorley.

Tell us the vehicle and what it has to power, and an engineer confirms the fit, the interlocks and what the installer receives.

Thanks, that's with our engineers.

Questions about the Fiat Ducato

We operate patient transport Ducatos as well as front-line units. Can both use it?
Yes. Tell us which Ducatos do which work and our engineer programmes every module around its duty.
When a Ducato is retired, does the module follow its replacement?
It does. Being reprogrammable, it moves across, and we charge nothing to set it up again.
What about a Ducato motorhome base?
If the base vehicle sits in our coverage, describe what you want kept running and our engineer will judge whether runlock suits the build.
