Cruise control retrofit

Fiat Grande Punto: retrofit cruise control

The Grande Punto has reached the age where it belongs to people who chose to keep it: a dependable second car, a first car for a new driver, or a runabout now doing a longer commute. Fitting cruise is a sensible way to make an older car nicer to live with.

Kept for years, not traded in

Owners who hang on to a car this long have usually stopped thinking about replacing it. When their journey changes, they would rather improve what they have than take on a finance deal. Cruise is a natural thing to add for exactly that reason.

Older wiring calls for more caution

An older car has had more hands on it. Previous repairs, aftermarket alarms and replaced loom sections all make a guessed-at retrofit riskier. Whoever does the work should understand exactly what they are connecting to, and why, before cutting into anything.

Set up for the Grande Punto

CAN KONTROL CRUISE listens to the Grande Punto's CAN network for what it needs, not to any linkage under the bonnet. Programming happens at our Lancashire factory when an engineer knows your car's age, engine and the buttons you favour. Not sure whether you own a Grande Punto, a Punto Evo or a later Punto? The registration year usually tells us.

Questions about the Fiat Grande Punto

Is a Grande Punto too old to be worth the upgrade?
If the car is sound and you intend to keep it, yes. Sell it later and the box can be reset for a different vehicle, so the spend is not locked to this one.
My Grande Punto has an aftermarket alarm. Does that matter?
Mention it. Our engineer needs to hear about anything already spliced into the wiring before confirming the connection.
Who fits it?
Your own auto electrician or garage. The Grande Punto unit turns up already programmed, so their part is the installation.
