Fiat Talento cruise control retrofit
The Talento is Fiat's version of the Renault Trafic, out working for fleets, builders and camper converters. A medium van like this does long motorway days, and those bought without cruise leave it all to the driver's right leg.
A Trafic underneath, a Fiat on the grille
Built on Renault's medium van, the Talento has its basics in common with the Trafic, the Vauxhall Vivaro of the same era and the Nissan NV300. Converters know the shape well, and it is a common sight in mixed fleets. Familiar does not mean identical, though, and each badge is treated separately.
Mixed fleets need careful ordering
When a yard holds Talentos alongside Trafics and Vivaros, the temptation is one part number for all of them. A configuration that suits one van may not suit its cousin, and the fleet manager finds out when a driver rings in from a lay-by far from the depot.
One module per van, built in Chorley
Each Talento's CAN KONTROL CRUISE is prepared before dispatch, after an engineer has settled its age, engine and switchgear. The module draws on the Talento's CAN data, and neither a throttle actuator nor pedal box work is involved. Camper converters can add it during the build, with the engineer confirming the connection first.

Questions about the Fiat Talento
- We run Trafics as well. Can you look at those too?
- Send their details alongside the Talentos and the engineer checks each one against our list.
- Can the van's own wiring be left uncut?
- An inductive, no-cut method exists for exactly that, and whether your Talento suits it is the engineer's call.
- Who decides which buttons the driver uses?
- You do, with the engineer, during the enquiry. Button choice is fixed before programming starts.
