Cruise control retrofit

Renault Maxity: retrofit cruise control

The Maxity is a compact cab-over truck that councils, landscapers and builders' merchants run as tippers, dropsides and box bodies. It is a working chassis first, and some go into service with no speed hold at all.

Short nose, long days

With the cab over the front axle, the Maxity is easy to place in tight yards and narrow lanes, which is why it gets chosen for municipal and site work. The same truck then spends hours on dual carriageways between depot, tip and job, and those are the hours when the missing feature shows.

Where the strain lands

Drivers in a flat-fronted cab sit high over the wheels and feel every mile. Keeping a loaded tipper at a steady pace takes concentration better spent on mirrors and the road ahead. Over a full shift an aching leg becomes a tired driver.

Built for the chassis you run

Tell us the Maxity's year, engine, body type and whether the electrics are 12V or 24V. We set CAN KONTROL CRUISE to that chassis at Chorley; it runs off the truck's CAN traffic rather than any mechanical linkage. Operators can send the whole fleet list in one go.

Questions about the Renault Maxity

Does the tipper or box body affect anything?
Not as far as cruise goes. What we need to confirm is the Maxity chassis, engine and year.
We mix the Maxity with heavier trucks. Is the voltage a problem?
No. Each module is built for 12V or 24V when it is configured, so every vehicle gets the right one.
Can a unit be moved onto a replacement truck?
Yes. The Maxity unit is reprogrammable, and reconfiguring it for the new chassis is free.
