Cruise control retrofit

Volkswagen Passat cruise control retrofit

The Passat is the classic motorway car: reps, sales teams, minicab drivers and families towing caravans all rely on them. It seems unthinkable that one could lack a speed hold, yet some were built without it, and their drivers feel it on every long trip.

A car made for distance

Passats are bought for big annual mileages, and the estate is a favourite with caravan owners and dog walkers. They are comfortable and refined at speed. That makes holding the pedal for two hours feel even more out of place.

Towing a caravan without cruise

With a caravan behind, limits are lower and the car is working harder on every gradient. Keeping the speed right takes real concentration, especially late in a long day. One lapse on a fast dual carriageway can mean a fine or a dangerous moment.

How a Passat gets cruise

CAN KONTROL CRUISE reads speed and drive messages from the Passat's network and maintains your chosen pace, with no throttle linkage at all. Generation, engine, body style and controls are confirmed first. Scorpion Automotive then configures and builds the unit in Chorley; it and Intellitec are both part of Scorpion Group.
