Ford Focus runlock for patrol and response cars
A Focus on patrol or response work pulls up at an incident and the officer is on foot within seconds. Blue lights, the radio and the in-car camera all need to keep working, and the car has to be secure behind them, often at night on a busy road.
Night work at the scene
Patrol cars, response cars and security vehicles built on the Focus carry lighting, radios, ANPR and cameras. At a scene those loads run until the last cordon tape comes down. Private hire Focus drivers have a simpler version of the same need: heating on while they wait for a fare.
Lights going dim, or a car anyone can drive off
With the engine off, a long scene can take the battery low enough that the car will not restart. Engine running and key still aboard, the car is available to whoever reaches it first. At night, with everyone looking elsewhere, that is a real risk.
Check whether your Focus is keyless
Our Focus coverage runs from 2005 and is for keyless models, so check whether your car is keyless before you enquire. With that settled, CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK holds the Focus running as the officer walks off, and the car still locks. Brake or accelerator pressed, handbrake off, driver's door opened: unless the programmed conditions allow it, runlock ends there and then. The Focus cruise control module is sold separately.
