Engine runlock

Ford Transit Mk4 runlock

Plenty of Transit Mk4 vans are still working hard as tail lift delivery vans, recovery trucks and welfare units. They have years of service in them, their kit still needs the engine on, and their drivers still have to walk away from them.

Older Transits, heavy loads

A Transit Mk4 cycling a tail lift on a furniture round, a recovery truck winching at the roadside or a welfare van keeping a mess area warm in January all draw serious power. These vans have been built up for a job and the operator expects them to keep doing it.

Drained batteries and unattended cabs

Working a tail lift or a heater from the battery alone soon flattens it. Leaving the engine on, cab unlocked, deals with that but leaves the van exposed. On a busy street or an open site, a running Transit with nobody in it can be gone in seconds.

Fit it now, move it later

CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK keeps the Transit Mk4 running after the key has come out, and its doors can be secured. Runlock ends the moment somebody operates a pedal, drops the handbrake or opens the offside cab door beyond what the setup permits. When the Mk4 finally retires, we reprogramme the unit for its replacement free of charge. If that replacement is a newer Transit, our Transit Mk5 runlock covers it.

Questions about the Ford Transit Mk4

Is it worth putting runlock on an older van?
Yes, because the unit outlives the van. When the Mk4 goes, it is reprogrammed for the next vehicle at no cost, as long as that vehicle is on our list.
Will it help with a tail lift?
Yes, the engine keeps turning while the lift cycles. Describe the lift and our engineer sets the conditions.
What details do you need?
Roughly how old your Mk4 is, what body or equipment it carries and how many vans you run. Our engineer agrees it all with you before the unit is built.
