Ford Mondeo runlock: key and keyless
Mondeos on traffic patrol, response or private hire duty often have to keep running with nobody behind the wheel. An officer walking back to a stopped vehicle, or a driver meeting a passenger off a late train, still needs the radio, the lights or the heater working.
A big saloon on a twelve-hour shift
The Mondeo has the boot space for a patrol fit-out and the rear legroom that private hire passengers appreciate. In both jobs it can sit stationary for long spells while the electrics keep drawing.
What stops someone driving it away?
That is the first question every driver asks about a running car left alone, so here is the answer in plain terms. Should someone climb in and put a foot on the brake, the Mondeo comes out of runlock. Releasing the handbrake has the same effect, and so does opening the driver's door, whenever the conditions we programmed are not met.
Key or keyless, both are covered
Our Mondeo coverage runs from 2015 and includes both key and keyless versions. CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK keeps the engine turning after the key or fob has left the car, and the Mondeo can be locked as it idles. Ignition, road speed and the rest of what it needs come off the CAN bus. Tell us which type you have; our engineer finalises the setup before Chorley ships it.
