Engine runlock

Runlock system for the Ford Ranger

A Ranger on a farm, a recovery job or a utility site is often working hardest while it stands still. The winch, the inverter or the compressor needs the engine turning, and the driver needs to be out with the equipment, not sat in the cab.

A pickup that powers the job

Rangers carry winches, inverters for power tools, compressors for tyres and air tools, and split-charge systems feeding a second battery. Recovery operators, farmers and utility crews all run them this way. Our Ranger coverage starts from 2016 and takes in both key and keyless trucks.

Even a second battery runs out

Run a compressor or inverter on battery alone and even a dual setup will sag. Leave the engine running and the cab open while you work at the back of a trailer, and anyone could climb in. Pickups are popular with thieves, and one that is already started makes their job easy.

Holding the Ranger's engine on

CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK keeps the Ranger running while the key stays on your belt, and the pickup can be locked. It takes its cues from the Ranger's CAN bus, and climbing in and touching the throttle, knocking the handbrake off, or swinging the driver's door open without the programmed conditions in place all end runlock. Each unit is programmed for the truck and what it powers. For long towing runs, there is a Ranger cruise control retrofit too.

Questions about the Ford Ranger

My Ranger is keyless. Is that covered?
Yes. Key and keyless Rangers from 2016 both appear in our coverage. Say which you have and we programme the unit accordingly.
Will it hold the engine on while I use the winch?
Yes, that is a typical use. Describe the winch and your routine with it, and the conditions are set around your job.
If I trade the Ranger in for a newer one, what then?
Take the unit out before it goes. If the new pickup is in our coverage, we reprogramme it free.
