Engine runlock

Volkswagen Golf V and VI runlock

A plain Golf is about as anonymous as cars get, which is why older Golfs turn up in surveillance, investigation and camera work. The operator may need to leave the car parked with recorders and chargers running while they move on foot. The car has to look ordinary, and it has to keep running.

Kit that cannot stop recording

Cameras, recorders and phone chargers draw current right through the job. A watch can go on for hours, and an older Golf battery is not built for that with the engine off. Losing power halfway through can mean losing the footage that justified the day.

Leaving a running hatchback on a street

If the engine runs with the ignition key still fitted, the Golf is both open and unattended. That is a poor position when the car is full of equipment and meant to blend in. Turning the engine off solves one problem and starts another.

Golf V coverage, and a word on the VI

We list the Golf V generation. Golf VI owners should send the car's year and version first, and an engineer confirms what applies before supply. CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK then lets the Golf run on with the key gone and the car locked, taking its cues from CAN messages inside the Golf. Touching a pedal, releasing the handbrake or opening the driver's door against the configured rules finishes runlock.

Questions about the Volkswagen Golf V VI

Does the Golf behave normally once I am back in?
Yes. Pressing a pedal or releasing the handbrake takes it out of runlock and you drive away as usual.
We also have a newer Golf. Is that a different listing?
Yes, the Golf VII from 2013 is listed separately with a configuration of its own. Tell us which generation each car is.
If we sell the Golf, is the unit lost?
No. It is reprogrammable, so it can go into your next vehicle, and that new configuration is free.
