Engine runlock

Volkswagen Golf VII runlock for courier work

Golf VII cars from 2013 are often used by medical and sample couriers, the drivers who shuttle between surgeries, labs and hospitals all day. Many of those runs involve a powered cool box behind the rear seats and a phone that must never die. Each collection means parking up and walking inside.

Short stops, long day

A courier might call at many sites before lunch. Each stop is quick on paper, but hospital car parks mean a walk, a lift and a wait at a desk. Meanwhile the cool box is drawing power from a car with its engine off.

When the box warms up

If the engine is switched off, the cool box runs from the battery, and the battery was not designed for it. Leaving the Golf running, ignition key inside, keeps the temperature right but leaves an unlocked car in a busy car park. Couriers carrying samples cannot afford either outcome.

Golf VII runlock in practice

CAN KONTROL RUNLOCK is configured for the Golf VII generation from 2013. Once the courier has the key in hand, the Golf runs on and the courier is free to lock it. Back in the driver's seat, a touch on the brake or releasing the handbrake ends runlock. All of it is read over the Golf VII's CAN bus, so pedal and door states come from the car's own data.

Questions about the Volkswagen Golf VII

Is the earlier Golf covered by the same unit?
The Golf V generation is listed on its own with a separate configuration. Let us know which generation you run so the right setup is supplied.
We have several couriers on Golfs. Can they all be configured alike?
Yes. Every unit is prepared before dispatch, so every car on the fleet behaves the same way for the drivers.
Can you change the setup later if our cool boxes change?
Yes, configuration changes are free.
