Electric vehicles put a rich set of data on the CAN bus, from state of charge and range to charging state and high-voltage status. Converters, body builders and equipment installers increasingly need to read that data so their systems respond to the actual state of the vehicle. A CAN interface is how you get at it.
The signals that matter on an EV
State of charge and range let equipment behave sensibly around available energy. Charging state matters when equipment should behave differently while the vehicle is plugged in. High-voltage status matters for interlocks, so converters and body systems know when the vehicle is live and stay safe. The CAN KONTROL EV covers general EV data, the CAN KONTROL CHARGE focuses on charging state, and the CAN KONTROL HVSTATE targets high-voltage status for interlocks.
Built to order, available on enquiry
EV data varies a great deal between platforms, so we treat these as built to order, available on enquiry, rather than a fixed off-the-shelf list. What can be read, and how reliably, depends on the specific vehicle. Tell us the vehicle and the signal you need and we confirm what is possible and how we would deliver it.
These units are built on the i2CAN platform, designed and manufactured in the UK by Intellitec, part of Scorpion Group. One configurable platform covers the range, and on vehicles under warranty the bus can be read with a no-cut inductive reader.
What to tell us
Tell us the make, model and year, and exactly what your converter or interlock needs to know, whether that is state of charge, range, charging state or HV status. We confirm what can be read and configure it for the vehicle.
