Commercial vehicles carry a standard set of data on the CAN bus. J1939 is the underlying standard, and FMS is a fleet management signal set published on top of it, giving consistent access to signals like road speed, engine RPM, tachograph and PTO status across different chassis makes. For body builders, converters and telematics installers, that consistency is the value.
Working from a standard signal set
Instead of reverse-engineering each manufacturer’s wiring, a J1939 or FMS interface reads the published signal set off the bus. Body equipment and telematics then work from consistent data, so the same install approach carries across makes rather than being reworked each time. The CAN KONTROL CV is the general commercial-vehicle interface for this signal set.
Tachograph and PTO
Two requirements come up repeatedly. Tachograph data is often needed for telematics and compliance, and the CAN KONTROL TACHO is aimed at that. Power take-off status matters for body equipment that must behave around PTO engagement, and the CAN KONTROL PTO targets that. What can be read and provided depends on the vehicle and the device you are feeding, so we confirm it rather than assume it.
All are built on the i2CAN platform, designed and manufactured in the UK by Intellitec, part of Scorpion Group. One configurable platform covers the range, at both 12V and 24V.
What to tell us
Tell us the make, model and year, the signals your body or telematics system needs, and the device you are feeding. We confirm what is available on the vehicle and configure the output it needs.
